Standards
The CE EN388 standard evaluates abrasion, cut, tear, and puncture resistance. Abrasion ratings reflect the cycles required to wear through a sample. Circular blade cut ratings reflect the cycles required to cut through a sample at a constant speed. Tear and puncture ratings reflect the force required to tear or pierce a sample, with puncture testing using a standard-sized point.
